Whimsical Backyard Wedding: Anastasia & Eric Married!
Happy Thursday Friends!I just love when we get to share a simply gorgeous backyard wedding with you, and today you are in for a real treat! A year has passed since Anastasia & Eric tied the knot, and from the beginning of the planning and design stages, I knew that it would turn out to be one of my favorites of 2013. I still find myself wandering over to their photos and swooning (captured, quite fabulously, by Dennis Kwan Photography)! And to make our love for this wedding grow even deeper, we were super excited when Grey Likes Weddings agreed with our high opinion of Annie & Eric's soiree and recently did a feature of their wedding on the blog. Huzzah! The love-birds’ hosted their fete at Eric’s parents’ home. We worked with the couple and vendor team to build the whole thing from scratch. We wanted the entire celebration to have a sense of progression throughout the evening, all while still feeling easy and naturally gorgeous. The couple hosted a simple, intimate ceremony that beautifully integrated elements of both their cultures and religions. They said their “I-do’s” under a chuppah in the neighbor's backyard garden. The flowers and decor were designed to feel natural, lush, and plant-like.Once they were officially wed, guests were invited to join the couple for cocktails next door, as they were welcomed by the sound of a Caribbean drum band. Again the feeling of Caribbean ease was brought into the home’s front yard through the menu and aesthetic design (think white, airy and spicy!).Finally, the curtain separating the front yard from the back was drawn and the guests were transported into a whimsical backyard garden reception. Enchanted Gardens Floral Design used a mix of greenery, neutral flowers (with just the right amount of purple and coral pops), and even potted herbs to create and gorgeous, casually elegant table scape. We used bistro lighting, hung icicles from the many trees, and the couple even created their own signature "Homies Forever" marquee to transform a simple backyard into a land of enchantment (the couple made the ‘Homies’ sign together!). We found fun ways for the guests to find their seats and sign the guest book (hint, there is a piñata involved and the guests were invited to “pack it”). The couple gave away customized hot sauce and pashminas as favors. During their family style dinner feast, Anastasia’s mom surprised everyone with a group performing traditional Panamanian dances. Everyone danced until they dropped, and when they thought they could no longer go on, we brought in a taco truck to keep the party going. The next day people were telling the couple it was the “best wedding ever”, which is hands down one of the best compliments we could ever receive!Happy Anniversary Anastasia & Eric, we were honored to help bring the vision of your day to life! We wish you a lifetime of happiness! To see more from their day, be sure to check out their super fab video by the talented team at TKD Media.Vendor Love:
