Ingredients For Your Wedding Design Plan

Hello, Love Birds,

Today we are talking design again. Last week we discussed where to go to get the inspo. and today we will talk you through the various mediums for where you can actually implement these new inspirations. Each item works together to craft the overall feel of the wedding, so pay attention to details. So without further ado, here they are.

Florals and Candles

This is the most obvious design area that works to create the look of a wedding. Beautiful blooms in fab vessels, paired with glow is the perfect recipe to get your tables, nooks, and crannies of your wedding looking foxy. Be sure to think through the style of florals you like and use those blooms throughout your day: down the aisle, as the backdrop for the ceremony, on cocktail tables, on functional tables (welcome, escort, bars, dessert, etc), as centerpieces, any and everywhere you can imagine. Floral arrangements in gorgeous containers with candles all around are the most visual aesthetic aspect of your design… so be sure to do it well!

The great thing about lighting is that is both functional and decorative. The type of light you choose will not only serve to light up your wedding world but also to make it look just the way you envision it: whether you are looking to create a whimsical enchanting secret garden or an industrial speakeasy, the lights overhead and around the space will work to create that vibe.

China, Flatware, Glassware

These elements are where you get to have some fun! You can play around with options of patterned and colored flatware and glassware, and elegant china. The choices are endless! Keep it clean and streamlined, or mix and match with curated pieces, this is one of those smaller details that will really bring the character of your wedding look to life.

Linens and Napkins

Your linens and napkins for the table can make a big difference. Make sure you are choosing ones that go well with the china, flatware, and glassware you are vibing and matches overall style, as this piece serves as the base for your guest dining designs.

Tables and Chairs

Table and chairs aren’t always the first things you think of when you hear “wedding design”, but they create a large effect on the aesthetic! Make your choices wisely, whether you are trying to have a rustic wedding with cross-back vineyard chairs or a modern wedding with ghost seats.

Structural Rentals

These can be items that we bring in or fixed items to a Ballroom such as the walls and carpet. You should begin to think of all of these different components when you visit your venue ahead of time. Be aware of if it is outdoors and you will need a tent, or if it will be at a hotel and need pipe and drape so that your “walls” will look nice with the aesthetic that you truly want.

Fancy Rentals

Oh, how we love to lounge! Bringing in fun pieces such as furniture, pillows, bars, bar backs, statement pieces and more for the reception. You will never run out of options regardless of your aesthetic and location choices, just make sure you keep in mind what you want your overall look to be!

Signage and Paper Goods

To make sure the everything is cohesive, paper goods should be coordinated well in advance with a printing company. Signage should not be for the bride or groom to write the weekend of the wedding or even the day before. If the rental company is providing large “write-on” pieces for your wedding, make sure to hire or designate someone else to have it done in advance! This way you will know exactly how it will look with your design plan.

Cutesy smaller items

It is these smaller items that really help showcase our couples’ personalities. These items could include things such as favors, a guest book, a cardholder, fans, bathroom amenities and more. The best impression is made when every detail is thought out and executed well. Creating these little items to flow smoothly with your color scheme and design direction will support the overall look that you want to achieve. All these little things add up!
