Lighting 101: Guide To Illuminating Your Wedding Day

Hi lovebirds!

Oh lighting… it can make or break the mood of any given event. There’s something about the way a venue is lit that can set the overall ambiance of your wedding day. Great lighting has the ability to transform a plain and simple space to be enchanting, whimsical, dramatic or magical… the possibilities are endless. Whether your venue is outside or indoor, we bring in specialty lighting all the time to help achieve the overall look and feel our couples want for their day. That is why today we are sharing with you our quick guide to great lighting for your celebration.

1. Functional

Functional lighting is the most basic and essential lights you’ll be needing at your wedding day. If people can’t see their food, they won’t be able to enjoy your celebration. These overhead bistro lights are the best, easiest and most cost effective way to illuminate almost any outdoor celebration.

2. Statement

Statement pieces are a great way to add a touch of glamour and style to your wedding while also illuminating the space. An example of this is chandeliers. Not only are they classic and elegant, but they also transform the space from simple to grand in a heartbeat.

3. Atmospheric

Atmospheric lighting can really set the mood for you and your guests to dance the night away. Uplights are a great example of this. We use uplights inside to make a standard ballroom feel intimate, and outdoors to help mark the boundaries of a space. We also love how they help warm up a celebration by adding a splash of hue to the perimeter of a space.

4. Make it glow

In conjunction with functional, statement and atmospheric lighting, we absolutely suggest using a slew of candles to spice up your wedding venue… You can never have too much glow! Whether you are able to the real thing or flameless LED versions, candlelight will instantly add drama and romance to your space.
