  • Fave Wedding Tradition: The Send Off – Whether we’re using sparklers, napkins, lanterns or streamers, it is always such a fun moment of sheer celebration!
  • The moment in every wedding that never fails to bring you to tears: When I see the bride (someone who I’ve been planning this day with for months) completely dressed and ready to start the festivities; gets me misty eyed every time!

Love at Ahmanson Ranch: David & Donna Married!

d-d-resized-6Wedding season is in full swing, love is in the air and today I’m happy to share with you one of our swoon-worthy DIY weddings from last year. It is true, we at Marisa Nicole have been so preoccupied with throwing fabulous fetes that we’ve been quite delinquent in sharing our weddings with you; but fear not my friend, today all that ends!

David & Donna wed last summer at one of LA’s very own rustic ‘blank-slate’ venues, Ahmanson Ranch in Calabasas. Although this location is gorgeous on it’s own, the couple’s love for each other – coupled with Donna’s talent for all things crafty – brought out the best in this little ranch.

d-d-resized-3 d-d-resized-4One thing I loved about this wedding was how the bride wasn’t afraid to mix aesthetic genres! We combined laid back vintage touches with clean pops of color and natural elements with modern décor to create the perfect wedding cocktail of equal parts – romantic, gorgeous & fun.

Donna handmade everything from flowers to the cake topper. We swapped out traditional bouquets for super cute parasols and ceremony arrangements for oversized balloons to create a relaxed environment where guests could kick back and enjoy both the views and the booze (hey, I rhymed!). David dreamed up and built an all-in-one s’mores station for their guests to enjoy.

If you like what you see (and who wouldn’t!) be sure to check out the vintage style video of images he edited to showcase how gorgeous and fun their wedding turned out to be!

Love in Santa Barbara: Bre & Eric Married!

Happy Tuesday Friends! Today I am just giddy to share with you one of my favorite weddings of 2012. And what could be better than having the fabulous Jessica Fairchild Photography there to capture each and every moment?

Bre & Eric decided to get married in Santa Barbara, since their families live in different parts of the state and that is where they met and fell in love. Within two minutes of meeting Bre & Eric, I could tell two things: 1) They are a super special couple and 2) they bring out the best in each other. Within two minutes of meeting their friends, I could see what great people they are. I have literally never had a couple whose friends are so down to help out! Since they were on a tight budget, their friends and family worked tirelessly setting up and tearing down chairs to save the love birds some dough.

From the very beginning, I fell in love with this couple’s style. Looking back at the photos I just can’t get enough of Bre’s necklace. Most brides toil over their day of jewelry, but Bre just picked it up casually about a week or so before the big day and thought it might work, and oh did it! That fabulous turquoise adornment not only looks stunning on our gorgeous bride but also perfectly complemented the Moroccan feel we were going for with the overall design of the aesthetic. Don’t you just love the table-scape?!? I can’t stop gushing…

The couple decided to meet at the beach early in the morning to start the day off in prayer. Bre and Eric wanted their first kiss as a married couple to be absolutely unforgettable, so they choose to refrain from doing so in the month leading up to their day. This couple is so dang sweet, they’re seriously going to give me a cavity!

The reception was just pure fun. At one point Bre and her ladies did a routine especially designed to woo Eric (as if he needed any encouragement). The guests spent the night dancing under the stars and munching on Bre & Eric’s favorite cupcakes.

Fab Interns Wanted!

I’m excited to announce that we are officially accepting resumes for our 2013 summer intern positions. We’re looking for college students who are energetic, super organized, well styled and have great interpersonal communication skills. Our interns will gain experience in all aspects of wedding planning: from creating timelines and budgets to managing social media to hanging lanterns from trees and anything you can imagine in-between! As an intern for Marisa Nicole, Weddings & Events, you’ll get hands on experience at special events. You’ll also get a chance to see and participate in all the administrative and design work that goes into bringing a fabulous celebration to life!

Applicants must be available during the week for administrative tasks/meetings and on nights and weekends for events. All applicants must be enrolled in a university and will participate in the internship in exchange for school credit (as an internship, practicum or placement for their degree). This is a great opportunity for those studying hospitality, marketing, business and communications (but we don’t discriminate – applicants of all majors are welcome here!).

Please send your resume along with a short description of a recent party or gathering you’ve organized, as well why you love weddings and events to!
