Dreaming of Dresses: Bridal Fashion Trends for Fall 2017!

Hello loves!

Every little girl dreams about her big wedding plans, and most notably: her future wedding dress. Bridal fall fashion week was just a few weeks ago. We were so taken by the upcoming trends and styles we saw, that we decided to share some of our favorites with you!

Cold Shoulders

Off the shoulder tops have been noticeably gaining popularity in the past year, and why not continue it? This trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. You can go for a more casual off the shoulder look, or use the off the shoulder pieces to bring intricacy and detail to your dress with a bit of lace or embellishments.

Lace off the shoulder sleeves can give your wedding dress the extra flair it needs to be unforgettable down the runway… I mean, aisle!

High Necklines

Raising the neckline while also raising the detail of the dress! A high neckline can be achieved in a few different fashions, and can give your wedding dress a sense of class and structure.

If you want a more structured look, you can choose a dress with a solid front and high neck. Three-quarter or long sleeves are other ways to achieve a more conservative dress design with a high neck as well!

If you like the look of the lacy high neck but aren’t too sure about the chest coverage, you can always pair another trend from the runway along with the high neck and choose a dress with a plunging backside or open back!

High-Low Hemline

Asymmetrical hemlines have always been in style, but they are taken to a completely new level in a wedding dress! For a more classic look, a larger, more fuller high-low skirt is the way to go.

A more structured high-low skirt is also popular and can add the perfect amount of simplicity to your wedding dress!

If you’re looking to take the high-low hemline as casual as possible for your wedding, you can try a loose hanging dress, or bring the hemline of your dress way up!

Hopefully our little overview of fall 2017 bridal fashion trends has left you inspired and excited for weddings to come. Stay fabulous, darlings!

Modern Coastal Backyard Wedding: Cindy & Alan Married!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Summer is almost here and that means backyard soirées are all the rage! Today we’re excited to share one of our gorgeous backyard weddings to help you get in the mood!

This is the wedding of Cindy & Alan! They tied the knot at a beautiful private estate in the Pacific Palisades. The backyard had a priceless view of the Pacific Ocean and the estate itself is somewhat famous as one of eleven “Case Study Houses” in LA County. Our overall vibe for their celebration was elegance with a modern twist. We worked to create a clean contemporary version of a classic look.

We covered the aisle with white petals and ghost chairs. Cindy wore a simple, yet fab, white dress and swoon-worthy shoes. She carried a bouquet of white luscious peonies with roses and anemones sprinkled throughout for a touch of color.

The guests worked their way across the backyard, allowing the Pacific to serve as the perfect backdrop throughout the celebration. We hung bistro lights over the dining area and icicle/drip lights in the tree that grounded the head table, creating a sense of whimsy and romance after sunset. Cindy & Alan decided to highlight medium grey tones, light purples and blushes with some creams and gold for metallic touches. We just love how clean and fresh everything looked.

We could go on for days on how delicious and mouth-watering the food was! Guests couldn’t stop asking for seconds (or thirds). There was a tapas bar that made it fun for guests to create their own gourmet appetizers.

We loved being a part of Cindy & Alan’s beautiful day and night! Congratulations again to this perfect couple on tying the knot!!

Honoring Your Mother At Your Wedding

Hello Wonderful Sons & Daughters!

Mother’s Day is almost here and it is time to celebrate mom and all the things she has done for you throughout the years (even though you should celebrate your mom every single day!) She has been the one holding your hand through every hardship, happy moment, and moment in between! Your mom is probably over the moon for you to get married. However, it is important to remember that it will be hard for her to let gn. Weddings in our mother’s generations were different than they are now. Back in the day, a woman’s turn to plan a wedding was when her daughter got married. But nowadays, couples want to take the lead on planning their wedding and often mothers get lost in the hustle and bustle of it all. We get it, you want to have your own wedding that tells the story of your love and is reflective of your tastes and preferences. However, don’t be too hard on your mom when her opinions get a bit pushy and things become tense. She was likely not all that involved in planning her own wedding and has now missed out on the chance to plan yours. At the end of the day, we know that your mom wants you to be super happy and you want your mom to feel involved. To that end, in honor of Mother’s Day, we have compiled a list of ways to honor your mom on your special day.

Something Borrowed, Blue & New

Get Ready Together

Your mom wants to spend as much time as possible on your big day. She wants to be there from the moment you wake up to the moment you get your hair done to you putting on your gorgeous dress. She wants to see her little girl turn into a beautiful bride.

Let Her Give a Toast

Your mom is one of the people that knows you the best. She is the one that knows all your quirks, all your stories and is the best memory keeper of your childhood. Let her share all her memories of you to a room full of people who know and love you just as much as she does.

Dance with Mom

Make sure your mom is able to showcase her dance moves. I am sure she will surprise you on the dancefloor! Let her pick a song that is special and close to her heart. She will cherish those few minutes swaying with you.

Showcase Her Wedding Photo

Have a picture of your mom on her wedding day for all guests to admire. This is a way for your mom to reflect on her big day and how excited she is for you to have the same feelings.

Walk Down Aisle with Mom

Your mom will appreciate the thought of having her be a part of walking you down the aisle. Letting her be apart of that special moment when she gets to pass you off to the man that will take care of you for the rest of your life is unforgettable.

Mention Your Mom in a Speech

Giving you mom that extra shout out will put a smile on her face. It is easy to just thank your parent’s and move on. Try and individually thank both of them and say something heartwarming about them.

Remember that your mom was always there for you and will always be there for you after you are married. We hope that you and your mom have an amazing Mother’s Day. However, we at Marisa Nicole Events believe that you should honor your mom every single day so make sure you tell her how much she is appreciated.

Wedding Fiesta: Cinco de Mayo Design Inspirations!

Happy Humpday!!

Who doesn’t love a great party, or shall we say fiesta? Cinco de Mayo is this week (thankfully on a Friday) and that means endless margaritas, chips & of course guacamole! We at Marisa Nicole Events are pretty much obsessed with Cinco de Mayo styled celebrations since this holiday is all about being playful with colors and giving a nod to all things Mexican through details and food. In honor of this day of fun and flair, we’re sharing some of our favorite ideas for a Cinco de Mayo themed wedding.

Escort Cards

Start the night off right with tequila shots for all. This is probably one of our favorite ideas for place cards. Your guests will love the fun right from the start of the reception!

When creating your Cinco de Mayo inspired tablescape think color and color and more color! You can practically incorporate the whole rainbow (paired with neutrals)! Also add a patterned runner. Oh and you cannot forget the cactus and succulents.

Margaritas, beer, and tequila… need I say anymore? We love the idea of having a margarita or sangria bar with different flavors for your guests to try. And who wouldn’t get excited about a high-end tequila tasting bar? We encourage you to let loose and have fun with your drinks. For a vibrant, playful styled wedding, cutesy accessories are not only appropriate, but encouraged!

Have your photo booth props stay with the fiesta theme. Sombreros, pinatas, maracas are all a great choice!

We at Marisa Nicole Events love sweets… especially anything fried! A warm cinnamon churro served with melty chocolate is the perfect way to end the celebration on a high note (other dulces will do the trick as well… we don’t discriminate when it comes to desserts).

Wedding Favors

For your favors, keep with the hot, mexican theme with some hot sauce! Let people bring the heat for future meals.

Remember if you are planning a fiesta, Cinco de Mayo themed wedding to just have fun with it! It is all about the colors and playfulness! In the midst of all this vibrancy, do remember to pair all these fab hues with neutral tones, to keep your overall aesthetic simultaneously grounded and elevated. We wish you all a fun and fabulous Cinco de Mayo filled with endless margs and guac!
