Tying the Knot in The Golden State

Hello from the West Coast!

Engagement season (Thanksgiving through Valentine’s Day) has just come to a close and many newly engaged couples are itching to figure out where they should tie the knot. Whether you live in California, have family here, or just want to get married in a fab, warm location, we think you should do it in the Golden State! Here at Marisa Nicole Events we are all California Girls! And honestly what is not to love about California?! It has so much to offer – from vineyards to the coast to the desert. Our great state not only has so many beautiful sceneries and environments, but it is also the perfect middle or meeting ground for people who live all around the world.

We have a significant amount of couples that aren’t from California. They bring their guests and want a venue that is significant and unique to California. Here are some of our favorite types of California Wedding Destinations.

Wine Country

What is more romantic than celebrating your big day in a vineyard? California is the leading producer of wine in the U.S… Whether you are winos or just like the easy natural beauty that a vineyard has to offer, wine country is one of our favorite locals to help couples get hitched! Enjoy a scenic view with vines and greenery all around. There are vineyard venues up and down the coast of California whether you want to be clinking glasses in Northern California (Napa and Sonoma) or in raising your glass in Southern California (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, or the Malibu Canyon).

Coastal

One of the things that draws people to California is our gorgeous ocean views. With sweeping coastal vistas and pretty much fab year-round weather, we’re the perfect spot for a gorgeous yet reliable beach wedding. Don’t get us wrong, we love a Hawaiian celebration, but with daily rains and winds that can literally blow your chuppah away, you can usually count on California to give you that blue water backdrop you’ve been yearning for, palm trees gracefully swaying in the wind and all, but without all the drama of a last-minute venue change. And if you really love the coast, many CA wedding venues offer “toes-in-sand” ceremony options, as well as pretty views on a manicured lawn.

Mountain

California doesn’t have a bear on the flag for no reason! California has a wide range of mountains from Yosemite to Tahoe to Lake Arrowhead. If you love the great outdoors and adventure, then you cannot go wrong with saying “I do” in this kind of woodsy environment.

Farm & Ranch

California is one of the leading producers of fresh produce in the U.S. and in the world. We are Marisa Nicole Events love our avocados, almonds and other fresh fruits and vegetables! Rustic style weddings are very popular and if you want to execute this style then having your wedding on a farm or a ranch will for sure give you those rustic vibes! Turn a barnyard or a backyard into a simple and beautiful venue to tie the knot.

Desert

Drive inland and you will find cactus and succulents galore, oh and rising temperatures! The desert is like a siren that calls those who love the fun, artsy and creative vibes. Another great thing about the dessert is that it is easy to take over the hotel to make for a weekend getaway for your guests. You can celebrate your wedding all weekend long with various events like a pool party! The desert also allows you to start from a clean slate and design your wedding the way you want.  Palm Springs and Palm Desert are our personal favorites!

Iconic Locations

California not only has some incredible natural destinations, but it also has some iconic and memorable locations that are special to The Golden State. When you think about California you probably think of The Hollywood Sign or The Golden Gate Bridge or maybe the Santa Monica Pier so why not get married at these iconic places?!

We may be a little bias here at Marisa Nicole Events, since we live in LA, however we have a good reason to love California so much! California has so much to offer and you cannot deny that our weather is unbeatable. If you are thinking about a destination wedding, we think that you should tie the knot on the West Coast (best coast)!

With Valentine’s Day being just around the corner, it is time to get in the spirit! If you are looking to add some love to your living space and spread the Valentine spirit like cupid would want you to, we have compiled a list of our favorite simple, easy and affordable ways to help decorate your home. Remember, these decorations do not just have to stay up for the Valentine’s Holiday, they can be present in your home year round as you do love your loved ones every single day.

Banners

The easiest way to add some love and design into your home are banners or garland. Turn a plain wall into a photoshoot backdrop or a mantel into the center of attention. There are so many different ways you can style a banner. You can easily buy one at Target or other home decor stores or if you love being creative you can make a DIY banner. In addition, they are so simple to hang, all you need is string and some tacks!

Marquee Signs

Nothing lights up a room (literally & figuratively) more than a fabulous marquee sign! You can keep it simple with XOXO or you can have a saying like “All you need is love.” There are many places to buy them or you can go to any craft store and purchase a kit to decorate your own!

Vases

Liven up your bedroom or make a centerpiece for your dining room table by making pink and red vases. Whether you bought flowers for yourself or your significant other bought them for you, they deserve a beautiful vase to be put in! A few ideas are to take a mason jar, extra can or glass bottle lying around your house and paint them solid colors, ombre, add hearts, or add glitter! There are thousands of ways to turn a plain old mason jar into a beautiful vase.

Pillows

Simply swap out your normal pillows for Valentine’s theme pillows to add romance to your living room. Next time you are watching a romantic comedy with your loved one, you can sit back and relax with cute cushions.

Bar Carts

Our personal favorite way to add some spirit into your living space is with spirits! Bar carts are functional, trendy and just overall awesome! The best part of a bar cart is it is so simple to change during the seasons and holidays. Add some chocolate, candy, and champagne and you are all ready to have a romantic night with your love!

I hope these tips bring some love to your living space! At Marisa Nicole Events we do believe that you should be celebrating your loved ones 365 days a year! So having pink, red, and hearts around the house year round is completely encouraged! Oh and one last tip, keep a bowl of chocolate kisses in every room of the house because isn’t Valentine’s also all about the chocolate?!

Picturesque Coastal Wedding: Katrina & Scott Married!

Happy Wedding Wednesday, friends!

These grey winter days has us dreaming about summer days filled with sun soaked fêtes. Today we’re excited to share one of our favorites from 2016 with you.

Have you ever met someone and just thought “wow, they are such good people”? That was how it felt when I met Katrina & Scott. Throughout the planning process all the way through to the big day, they were one of the most thoughtful and considerate couples I’ve had the privilege to work with. It was truly an honor to help plan their special day. It has been almost been 6 months since Katrina & Scott were married in Palos Verdes overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island last August. Today we’re sharing their beautiful wedding with you to enjoy!

Katrina & Scott got married at Catalina View Gardens which has breathtaking picturesque coastal views. The venue complemented the couple’s vision of a minimal, clean, modern and fresh wedding style. The reception and ceremony were outside and it could not have been more of a beautiful day!

All details were kept simple, natural and beautiful. Katrina’s bouquet and centerpieces matched with large ruffled blooms and loose greenery. The guests enjoyed cocktails on the patio before dinner. They served a Blackberry Bramble and a Whiskey Peach Smash which were both major hits with the guests!

When it came to the tables, we went for a clean, streamlined look so that the sweeping coastal views could be the real star of the tablescape. Minimal with interest was our mantra for the day’s aesthetic.Katrina & Scott are major foodies! So instead of going with the generic chicken, steak, and fish, they served their guests two unconventional wedding entree options lamb and duck (baller!). Don’t worry, they also offered short-ribs for the traditionalists in the group. And to top of the delicious meal, they served a tropical cake that incorporated flowers and greenery.

The newlyweds and guests enjoyed playing lawn games, dancing and celebrating the new married couple all night long underneath the twinkling lights! Congratulations to Katrina & Scott! And thank you to Next Exit Photography for capturing the beautiful ceremony and reception!

Wedding Hair Accessories for the Modern Bride

Hello, Gorgeous Girlies!

Wedding season is in view and many of you gorgeous gals out there are starting to work out the details of your wedding day look! One decision that many of our not-so-traditional brides toil over is what to do with their hair on the big day. If you have decided not to wear a veil, there are many different options that will stun your guests as you walk down the aisle. Don’t get me wrong, we at Marisa Nicole Events do love the classic veil look (swoon), but believe that other accessories are undeniably equally fab. To inspire you as you tackle this decision, today we’re sharing some of our favorite hair accessories and looks.

First Things First

To decide which accessory to incorporate into your style, you must first decide between wearing your hair up, down, or something in between. Take the cut of your gown in mind, along with any accessories that you already know you want to incorporate into your look (did someone say “something old / something new”?). It is also important to make sure that your hair complements your overall wedding vibe and your personality. However, remember that no matter which hairstyle or accessory you choose, you are bound to look like a beautiful bride (because you’re a queen!).

Jeweled Comb

This is a classic and simple option that will never go out of style. It can add a little sparkle to your hair as it complements the sparkle in your eyes on your big day. A comb makes for a finishing touch to your beautiful hair do without it taking over your whole hair. They are normally placed in the back or side of your head. Our two favorite ways to wear a comb is with an updo or as a clip to hold some of your hair back if you decide to wear your hair all the way down.

Floral Crown

Flowers are an elegant touch to any hairdo. They make for a romantic and bohemian vibe. This is a great option if you are having a relaxed, natural celebration. There are many different floral crowns. If you want something simple than opt for a baby’s breath floral crown. Or if you want to make more of a statement, then go for a crown that mixes different types of flowers and colors. The possibilities are endless when it comes to floral crowns.

Headbands

Another simple way to add some sparkle is a headband. It can be an elegant gold twist or a thick jeweled headband. We love this look because it goes well with any type of hairstyle. In addition, your accessory can be seen from the front when you take those head on photos. When picking a headband, make sure that the design matches the style of your dress.

Braids

Sometimes your own hair can be your best accessories. If you are not a huge fan of bling or flowers, doing a beautiful braided hairstyle is perfect. Just like other accessories, there are endless ways to style it. Doing a braided hairstyle is best if you have longer hair. Our favorite at Marisa Nicole Events is a side braid. It is simply gorgeous and helps keep your hair out of your face so that your wedding day glow will not be missed.

There are endless options of ways to accessorize your hair for your big day. Just remember to stay true to your style and your wedding theme. Also don’t forget that if you have always dreamed of wearing a veil as a little girl, there is nothing wrong with that! We believe that whatever makes you feel the most beautiful, then it is the right accessory.
