Holiday in SoCal Inspired Wedding Styled Shoot

Happy Thursday lovelies!

Today I’m happy to share with you our ‘Holiday in SoCal’ inspired wedding shoot that we produced and designed with Becca of Becca Rillo Photography! When Becca told me the idea of a Christmas wedding with a twist, I was immediately on board! For almost every wedding I help plan around Christmas, the couple always feels as if they have to pay homage to the holiday season through their decor and end up with saturated red and greens, super shiny silvers and golds and twinkle lights everywhere. Although we love all the holiday season has to offer, we wanted to inspire couples who are getting married around the holiday season to think outside the Christmas box and hint at the holiday without making your wedding look like Santa’s workshop. Exchanging reds for coral, peaches and pinks and greens for Tiffany blue, we went to work on creating our modernized winter wonderland wedding!

Becca and I worked together to create a world of snowflakes and branches as the backdrop for our shoot. We had our couple tie the knot in front of a wall of handmade snow flakes falling from one of the fabulous trees at the Ahmanson Ranch. Becca and her mom worked their fingers to the bone creating this whimsical look! Don’t you just love it?!?

One of my favorite ideas for this wedding was to have the couple give individualized wrapped presents to their guests: a twist on the traditional wedding favor! We were looking to create a toned-down mad-hatter kind of effect with a pile of immaculately wrapped colorful presents for their guests to find their name and take home.

Every time I look at our head table, I am wooed all over again. I love how the whole set-up perfectly combines a modern look while keeping the whole party posh and formal! The beauty of our table is what happens when three amazing rental companies, a fabulous floral designer, and two sassy stylists come together with a fantastic photographer there to capture the whole thing! I simply can’t get enough of this table!

I’m in love with each and every detail of this styled shoot. Just the site of both the sweets table and designer cocktails makes my mouth begin to salivate.  And how cute are our models!?!

We’ve been lucky to have our look be featured on several blogs as an example of fabulous design and a fresh color pallet. Love at Middle Ranch Lodge: Kurt & Cynthia Married!

Cynthia_&_Kurt_Wedding_0813Thank God It’s Friday friends!

Remember that great looking couple that was featured a few weeks back in our Tuesday Tips: Making a Splash While Breaking Glass post? As promised, I shall not make you wait any longer to see more of their beautiful wedding!

Kurt & Cynthia’s wedding is definitely one of my fondest memories as a wedding planner to date. It was really a pleasure helping them get married. I hate to pick favorites, but this couple is seriously one of my favorite set of love birds to help tie the knot. Why you may ask? Well, read on…

Their day was absolutely gorgeous and thankfully Iris & Light was there to capture each and every moment. The wedding was held at the Middle Ranch Lodge, which is a functioning ranch that is just lovely and filled with greenery. They were going for an ‘Italian Summer’ style with a touch of vintage and I think the whole thing turned out wonderfully. The flowers were designed by another one of my favs, Margit Holakoui who designed everything in white and green (and just little touches of blue). I am squealing with delight just thinking about it! The chuppah was made by Cynthia’s father and various mason jars for their centerpieces were collected from several trips to the flea market. One of the details in this wedding that makes me swoon is the tile table numbers. What I love about the whole ‘Italian Summer’ look is the easiness and simple elegance of it all.  Yes friends, I myself am kind of in love with this style! Going along with this theme of simple elegance, Cynthia wore a fabulous Nicole Miller dress.  Don’t you just love the back?!? They ended out the night with dancing to indie music compliments of Sean Sweeney who has all his records on vinyl. I can safely say that a good time was had by all!

Looking back on their wedding, I can describe it as a pure celebration of their love. Their friends and family gathered around the couple to honor their union and it was like you could feel the joy from miles away. This is probably because Cynthia & Kurt are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. She is a social worker and he is an author. Together they make quite the dynamic duo of sincerity and generosity. Believe me when I tell you that they are seriously ‘salt of the earth’ kind of people.

At the end of the night, they were so concerned with lending a hand during clean up that they were the last ones to leave the venue with me! At one point, I turned around to see Kurt, in his tux, carrying out one of the DJ’s speakers, and Cynthia, in her bridal gown, loading a box of records into the DJ’s car. I’ve never seen this before or since (and almost had a cow when I saw it this time), but that just shows you how caring this couple is. I hope you enjoy the images from this wedding as much as I enjoyed being a part of Cynthia & Kurt’s special day!
